montauroux Montauroux

Montauroux is  small perched village located in the Var, nestled into the trees. Montauroux is not visible, except from the neighboring perched villages, Callian, and Fayence, just to the west. To the south are the wooded hills of the Esterel and the Massif du Tanneron.

Take the time to explore the narrow streets of the old town with its lavoir, several stone fountains, 17th century village church, and its collection of shops and terrace cafés. The main village square is ideal for shopping and relaxing. The village's 17th Century church hosts regualar concerts, and Montauroux offers a guitar festival each summer.

Located slightly north of the popular Lac de St Cassien and a variety of watersports including canoeing, fishing, swimming, and pedalboats, Montauroux is convenient for those who enjoy the outdoors as well as hiking. It is also close to the wineries of the Var region, making it easy to visit for touring the local vineyards and sampling some Provencal Rosé, white, and red wines.
